Aria has always known her life is not her own. Bound by a destiny not of her choosing, she has waited and prepared, ready to fight and survive the unknown as she is pulled into a new time. Bewildered in her new future by the unexpected complication of Kai, who forces her to see past all of her preconceived notions of fate, she must learn that adversity is not always a single opponent or one that must be faced alone.

Aria always knew she would jump, it was just a matter of when and how far she would go. But something went wrong in her jump, and she flipped from time to time until she moved forward instead of back. Faced with the knowledge that all she worked for was useless, Aria now has no idea what THIS future will hold. Kai finds the woman while trekking on the mainland for valuable crystals. She shouldn't be here. But she intrigues him. She is totally different to the women of his time. Taking her back to the colony seemed the best option. But when Aria disappears, Kai falls apart, the love he has for this woman a totally foreign concept. This is book two in the series. You don't need to read book one, Here In Time, as this is not a continuation of that story, more a new story with a common thread. That thread being Millie, but she plays very little part, just enough to link the two books, but not enough to deem it necessary to have read book one. It helps though. I waited so long, so very very long for this book and it did not disappoint me. It was well worth the wait! I tried so hard to read it in one sitting, but I was poorly and needed the sleep! Aria's story is so different to Cassie's. Aria knows she will jump, Cassie did not. She studied history, trained hard to have the skills she needed to survive a jump back. But she jumps forward instead, and almost all of her hard work is useless. She has to learn new words, meanings, behaviour, history! And apart for Kai and his merry band of men, she doesn't much like this new world, and neither did I! We get Aria in the first person, present tense. We get so very little of Kai, in the third person. A single chapter and a bit. That's all! And this so very little is why I can't stretch to the full 5 stars. Had this been a single POV, with NO Kai, I'm fairly certain I would have given this the full 5 stars, regardless of the present tense thing. A perfect example of a great, nay, BRILLIANT book negating my dislikes of certain writing styles. It has romance and passion and sex and oh so much steam! But its very inkeeping with the story, not overly explicit and very well written. It has danger and intrigue, you don't know what the leaders of the colony want with Aria til they tell you. It has heartbreak too, for Aria and for the body she ends up in. I knew this was not going to be a straightforward HEA story like Cassie's was. That's all I knew, I refused to read the blurb before I read it, I wanted to go in almost blind, with no prelaid ideas that my brain tends to make when I read a blurb. I'm glad I didn't read it. But it gives away enough just to make you interested, to make you think. I liked it! This is, as I said, book two. There is a book three planned, and that will be Millie's story. Will she jump?? Will it tell how she came to be able to see the jumpers and their auras? No idea. BUT I will read it. Yes ma'am, I bloody well will, even if I have to stalk Ms Leigh all the way across the Atlantic! I just hope I don't have to wait 14 months. 4.75 stars.
