Emma has a good life, until she saw something she shouldn't have and her stepbrother sells her to a brothel to be rid of her. She could work off her fee, and that could take years, or get it all out the way in a single night. An auction, for her. James and Kane know as soon as they see Emma, she is meant to be theirs, the two of them. But Kane has a history that has followed him across the globe, and threatens the trio's new found happiness. Short, sexy and cute! The perfect hangover cure. I just finished up a really heavy book, and this was just what I needed to clear my head, to relieve that lingering feeling you get after such a read. It is told in the first person, from all three main characters POV, but I didn't mind it here. I rather liked it, truth be told! Because its first person, you get all the differences in the characters in a way that third person might not get across: their manners, upbringing, and speech patterns especially. With James being English, and Kane, Scottish, the words and speech patterns differ from Emma's who is American. And I really liked that! Kane's past is talked about here, but the danger doesn't materialize in this book. I wonder will it pop up in a later book though. All the men in James' regiment appear here, and they will all get their own books at some point. I'd love to read them especially if they are all such easy reads. Because sometimes, you just need short, sexy and cute! 4 stars

Who doesn't love the romance of the old West? Vanessa Vale takes the sensual appeal of rugged cowboys a step further with her bestselling books set in the Montana Territory. They are much more than just sexy historical westerns. They're deliciously naughty reads that sometimes push the boundaries of fantasy. It's pure escapism with quite a few very hot, very alpha cowboys. When she's not writing, Vanessa savors the insanity of raising two boys, is figuring out how many meals she can make with a pressure cooker, and teaches a pretty mean karate class. She considers herself to be remarkably normal, exceedingly introverted and fairly vanilla, which does not explain her steamy stories and her fascination with cowboys, preferably more than one at a time. She lives in the Wild Wild West where there's an endless source of 'research' material.
