Paranormal, Romance

The Timber Valley pack has a terrible reputation. Word is their males are dominant, kinky, and possessive – and Josephine’s best friend from college is being forced to marry one? No way! Curvy wolf shifter Josephine Southpaw’s got the perfect solution. Using a magic charm, she’ll disguise herself as the slender, beautiful Camille on her wedding day – while Camille hightails it out of town with the wolf she really loves. Of course, the Alpha will ditch Josephine the second he gets her back to the wedding suite and sees what his chubby bride really looks like. What could possibly go wrong? Well, for starters, Alpha Maxwell Battle is smokin’ hot. And he takes one look at Josephine and vows to never let her go – but he’s going to punish her for her trickery in deliciously sexy ways. And finally, Josephine’s friends keep staging well-intentioned rescue attempts, but she’s no longer sure she wants to be rescued. But Josephine’s not the only one with secrets. It soon becomes very clear that Maxwell’s hiding something big, a secret that puts not only Josephine’s heart but her life at risk.

3 out of 5 (good)

This is the first book in a new to me series, the Timber Valley Pack. It starts with Josephine coming up with an idea to stand in for her friend, courtesy of a shape-changing spell, so that her friend doesn't have to marry someone she's not in love with. The reasons are all there, but you know it just won't work out how she thinks it will.

Now, I really enjoyed this book for the majority of the time. If the story had just stayed with the abusive uncle and how the Timber Valley Pack were trying to sort it out, this would have been a 4-star read for sure. However, there was an extra storyline thrown in, just for fits and giggles it seemed. With no build up that stood out for this particular fork in the story, it just felt a bit thrown together. I found that to be a shame as up to that point I was engrossed.

Well written, with no editing or grammatical errors to distract the eye, this was a good read that just ended up being a bit too busy for me.

Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

Hello, I am Georgette St. Clair, writer of hot, sexy romances which star all Alpha heroes, all the time. The road to love may be rocky and fraught with peril, (and humor and scorchtastic sex and healthy heapings of snark) but my shifters will stop at nothing to claim the women they love.

A little more about me: I live in Florida. I’m a former newspaper reporter, EMT, internet marketer, cocktail waitress, temp, nurse’s aide (not in chronological order)…

Now I’m living my perfect life, spending my days in a fantasy universe where I nudge my smart-mouthed, take-no-guff heroines onto the path that will set them on a collision course with true love.
