When a distant planet’s ownership is in dispute, conquering aliens turn defiant human males into pampered sex slaves.

Wen, a Travian cadet on his first mission, stumbles upon a secret settlement of humans and Travians on New World Colony Seven. Affable by nature, he’s still recovering emotionally from his traitorous lover’s near-fatal beating. When faced with the terrible decision to put himself back in the control of a powerful male, he chooses the imposing human who raises both his fear and his interest.

Jonathan Dax is a first generation space child from New World Colony One. Against his better judgment, he has become the liaison for the settlement. He doesn’t trust Travians, including the fetching youth who kneels before him, begging to become his ‘boy’. The idea of becoming anyone’s master is repugnant. He hates the way Travians have claimed human boys as ‘pets’ and is loath to mimic their ways, yet, he cannot deny that Wen appeals to him.

At first, both Dax and Wen consider what they do in the privacy of Dax’s quarters a form of duty and no more. But the intensity of the pleasure and the emotions they share are impossible to ignore. They must each overcome their past and prejudices to form a real bond. Within the bucolic settlement, however, sinister forces are at work, and they threaten to destroy Wen and Dax’s budding relationship.

4 out of 5 (very good)

The Inconvenient Pet is the fifth book in the Alien Slave Master series, and once again follows the non-con/dub-con route. If this isn't your thing, then don't read it, simple as that. If, however, you can cope with that, then you are in for a wonderful series that continues to surprise and surpass as you go along.

With the four previous books, you have had a 'human' slave boy, paired with a Travian Master. In this one, the roles are swapped. Wen, who we have met before, is the Travian slave boy, and Dax, who we've also met before, is the human Master - although he doesn't like being called that!

Wen doesn't really belong in the military, although he has fought hard to earn his place. Dax is with a group of humans and Travians, calling themselves Naturalists, who want to go back to a more primitive way of life, living in harmony with each other. Of course, there is a maggot in most apples, this one is named Burrell. Of course, you also meet new characters who shine. Chloe is one of those for me. She is a strong female, knowing her capabilities, and yet not afraid to ask for help when needed.

The story is fresh, the characters familiar, and it is all well-written, with no editing or grammatical errors to disrupt the reading flow. Definitely recommended by me.

* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and the comments here are my honest opinion. *

Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I wish I had something exciting to put here – something like I’m a dominatrix who spends her days having gorgeous men lick chocolate off her body.

The truth is I’m a corporate lawyer, happily married for twenty years with three kids and four dogs. No white picket fence, but we do live in the burbs west of Boston. While my husband and I still do occasionally lick chocolate off each other, our more typical evening involves lying in bed once the kids are in theirs and reading separate books. Mine of course are romance. I started reading them as a defense against all those boring legal documents. Once I started, I couldn’t stop.

I love all types of romance, although my favorite stories are the ones with a kick-ass heroine. I devour anything by Nora Roberts (including J.D. Robb), Suzanne Brockmann and Jessica Andersen. Of course the heros in their stories kick ass, too. There’s nothing sexier to me than an Alpha male, except an Alpha male that’s willing to not only accept an Alpha female as an equal, but also willing to let her take charge from time to time.

I’ve loved erotica and especially male-on-male stories since my teen years. I stole a thin book by someone named Anonymous from my older brother’s drawer and found the best parts had two guys getting it on. What an eye-opener those scenes were! I thought I was the only straight woman perusing the gay male fiction in the bookstore all these years. Imagine my surprise when Ellora’s Cave gave a talk at an RWA conference one year asking for the very thing that’s always turned me on. It was a natural fit.

Besides my family, writing and reading, my loves include the sight, smell and sounds of the ocean (I’m a New England girl through and through), chocolate (naturally), prime rib (bloody) and good bourbon on the rocks. Whenever I’m out of town for a conference or other business, I also look for a male strip club or revue. I know – so cheesy. But the guys are hot and very attentive if you tip well enough. My husband is fine with this, by the way. He figures he gets the benefit of all that hotness when I get home. And he does, too!

Writing has been my passion since I was a child. Thank you so much for helping me realize my dream of not only writing, but writing something that other people enjoy!
