She hid secret messages in frosting, thinking no one would notice. Abby Tyler welcomes you to the witty, well-meaning busybodies of Applebottom, Missouri, where the community takes its pies -- and its matchmaking -- very seriously. When Sandy Miller emerges from her shack on the edge of town after eighteen years, she finds a job making tea cakes for a little shop on Town Square. But then everyone starts spotting secret words of love and longing on her cakes. Andrew McCallister is the first to admit that he never got over Sandy Miller when she dropped out of high school and disappeared. But now she’s back. He just has to get the guts to talk to her. When the town summons the pair to a meeting to plan the school’s centennial bash, Andrew and Sandy discover they are the only two members of the committee. As they attempt to rekindle the long-lost flame, they realize the community must come together for more than an anniversary party. For their new relationship to flourish, the old guard must learn to support their most vulnerable members even when times get hard.

Sandy Miller, shunned by her community after falling pregnant at fifteen.....Andrew McAllister, history teacher, hotty and in love with Sandy since high school.

Beautiful story, sensitively written and sweet.

Sandy is relatable on many levels, she's down to earth with a loving heart. You can't help but root for her to get the guy and a happy ending.

Andrew is instantly likeable, behaves like a gentleman and is lovely.

This is a classic love story and a perfect starting point for anyone new to romance. It has everything you expect and need from a romance without being too adult (no sex)

A nice relaxing weekend read that will warm your heart, feed your soul and make you crave cake!

I highly recommend for any romantic, young or old.

Two last things.....there's another book coming, I can't wait! And, you can sign up to receive text/emails and get exclusive bonus epilogues, yay!

A heartwarming love story

Abby Tyler welcomes you to the witty, well-meaning busybodies of Applebottom, Missouri, where the community takes its pies -- and its matchmaking -- very seriously.

It’s always fun to read as interesting matchmakers find the right man and woman to bring together for love. In this small town, it’s Sandy and Andrew who never had the guts to speak of their attraction in high school and are still attracted. Life happens and things don’t always go as we’d like. But, then, sometimes life gives a second chance and busybodies gives the necessary push.

The idea of hiding secret messages in the icing was brilliant. I enjoyed how Abby brought this entire community together for this story and the happiness of Sandy and Andrew. This is an entertaining read perfect for an uplifting weekend.

This story started out strong. The story flowed well, the characters were great, and details and descriptions were perfect.

I really enjoyed this sweet, heartwarming, quick read of a little story.

This was a nice little quick read that allowed me to escape my current “woe is me; I’m home sick with the flu” life and embark on such a sweet little story.

My absolute favorite characters in this story were the little old ladies. Oh my goodness they did my heart good. They were up to no good and didn’t care what anyone else thought. They had a plan and they were making that plan work, one way or another.

The only reason this story didn’t land five stars from me because I feel like the story was a lacking a little bit in the details and descriptions fields. It was a quick and short read but I think it could have been a tad longer had the author detailed out certain events, or wrote a bit more about other events. Maybe I just didn’t want the story to end quite yet? I just really wish there could have been more “meat and potatoes” kind of filling to the story.

Either way, I enjoyed the story. I would love to read book two once it is out and would recommend this story to my friends. I really did enjoy it.

Abby Tyler loves puppy dogs, pie, and small towns (she grew up in one!) Her Applebottom Matchmaker Society books combine the sweet and wholesome style of romance she loves with the funny, sometimes a-little-too-truthful characters she remembers from growing up in a place where everyone knew everybody’s business.
