A stand-alone romantic comedy set against the background of Scottish small towns and locks that will make you laugh, cry, and definitely melt your heart.

Livie Dunn, bookworm and aspiring bookstore owner, has been in love with her best friend ever since he dropped a bug down her shirt in primary school. She never stopped hoping that one day he’d realize they were made for each other.

Until Mia got in the way.

Kyle Huang has been taught to always do the right thing. But when that involves ostracizing his best friend by marrying her childhood nemesis, Mia, life as he knows it derails and crashes.

Suddenly, their happy ever after seems like a broken dream, especially when Livie moves across two continents to open a bookstore in Scotland.

To salvage a love that seems all but lost, Kyle must come to terms with his own bad choices and hope that Livie is willing to forgive and help him face his demons—a task that is anything but simple. Will he be able to reignite her love or will he lose it all?

Funny, romantic, wonderful characters

Livie Dunn and Kyle Huang have been best friends since primary school. She fell in love with him and hoped he’d one day feel the same. Unfortunately, she kept her feelings secret… until it was too late. He’d married her nemesis.

For a fresh start—and to fulfill her dream of owning a bookstore—Livie moves from Australia to Scotland. As she’s beginning to put her life back together, Kyle appears in her bookstore—getting divorced.

The author weaves together a wonderful group of supporting characters and beautiful location as a backdrop to this cute – yet heart-breaking, at a point – love story. Kyle and Livie are perfect friends-to-lovers stars with a strength and depth to them that makes their pain, love, and anger touch your heart.

Be ready to laugh as Livie learns ‘all things Scottish.’ Grab ‘Fictional-ish’ for a quick, enjoyable friends-to-lovers’ story. Great beach read!

I think we've all been in this or a similar position.....loving someone at the wrong time for you, them or both.

I feel for Livie, she's in love with her best friend and unfortunately had poor timing for telling him she loves him.....his wedding day!

Suffice to say due to this Livie gets her dream job.....thousands of miles away. And whats a good romance without a little heartache, crazy distances and a Scottish backdrop? I'd love to run a bookshop like Livie! It sounds amazing and she seems to really grow as a character.

I'm not quite sure that I like Kyle, there's something about him that annoys me.......oh, wait.....It's Mia, his manipulative, underhand, rude controlling wife! If I was a cat I'd be hissing at her that's for sure.

Fictional-ish is well written and gently surrounds you in the story of Livie and Kyle, it pulls you in and makes you feel.

Well worth a read at the weekend, for an adult that needs a bit of romance.

Author of We Will Always Have the Closet, Desert Jewel, and Loved You Always, Natalina wrote her first romance in collaboration with her best friend at the age of 13. Since then she has ventured into other genres, but romance is first and foremost in almost everything she writes.

After earning a degree in tourism and foreign languages, she worked as a tourist guide in her native Portugal for a short time before moving to the United States. She lived in three continents and a few islands, and her knack for languages and linguistics led her to a master’s degree in education. She lives in Virginia where she has taught English as a Second Language to elementary school children for more years than she cares to admit.

Natalina doesn’t believe you can have too many books or too much coffee. Art and dance make her happy and she is pretty sure she could survive on lobster and bananas alone. When she is not writing or stressing over lesson plans, she shares her life with her husband and two adult sons.
