A little blue world, the third planet from the sun. It’s home to 7 billion people with all manner of faiths, beliefs and customs, divided by bigotry and misunderstanding, who will soon be told they are not alone in the universe. Anyone watching from the outside would pass by this fractured and tumultuous world, unless they had no other choice. Todd Landon is one of these people, living and working in a section of the world called the United States of America. His life is similar to those around him: home, family, work, friends and a husband. After the attack on San Jose, Todd is appointed to Special Envoy for Terran Affairs by the nentraee, a position many world leaders question. Undeterred Todd wants to build bridges between both people. However, this new position brings with it a new set of problems that not only he, but his new allies Mi’ko and Mirtoff must overcome. Will the humans and nentraee learn to work together despite mistrust and threats of more attacks by a new global terrorist group, or will the terrorists win? Will this bring an end to an already shaky alliance between nentraee and humans?

Well shoot! As if the first book didn't weave some magic around me. Conviction is even better than the first book in the series.

There's more action, more loss and more hope than before. And as usual Todd is in the thick of it. Being the special envoy is a big responsibility, especially when you're still grieving for your husband.

Although a book that is full of aliens, Conviction mirrors the world we already live in, and its sad. But it's great seeing Humans and Nentraee fighting to bring a new way of life into being, a new hope and some beautiful friendships.

An adult read that will make you look up and forget that you've just been sat at home and that hours have passed.

I thought this was a seamless continuation from the first book, it instantly grabbed me .

It was clear from the start that Todd was still grieving heavily for Jerry but was throwing himself into his work and all the challenges it brings. The book portrayed the way differences can cement or destroy relationships perfectly and how Todd, being a pacifist really struggled with the notion that there could be so much animosity.

I really liked the unfolding relationship between Todd and Mi`cin, the hint of sensuality was very sweet, it would have been great if we got to find out what alien/human sex would have been like though! I loved the way their dates could be in outer space, that really kept me rapt.

During the terror attack and attempt it seemed everybody really started to work together, Todd`s bravery really shone through , it was good to have such a strong character as the focus. I really felt I could relate to Todd, I`m sure most people would. There were many opportunities both races distrusted each other but eventually forged professional and personal connection.

All in all I enjoyed the book as much as the first and I am always very dubious. As with the first, the second half of the book was better paced and I struggled to put it down.
