Strike the match... and ignite the rebellion.
Standing in front of her brownstone in Boston was the last place Evainne Wagner thought she would ever find herself. Not after she and her soulbond match, Stria Captain Kahlym cal Jhuen, had faced the impossible odds in so many challenges together, the last of which including running from the latest snare of the Thrall Emperor. Determined to return to him, she recruits the aid of her mysterious mentor to return to the Seventh Quadrant and to the man who betrayed her trust.
Desperation and terror had forced Kahlym to send his love far away from the clutches of approaching enemy. Lashing out in heartbreak and anger, Kahlym had never expected to see his Divine so soon, much less in the company of his long-lost brother. But it seemed fate and prophecy had other plans. To repair the rift between them, he must find the courage within him to trust in her as they scour the galaxy for strong allies and as the price on his head grows.
However, the Thrall Emperor Gha'jahn M'Uubair is not willing to part with Evainne without a fight. Calling on his assassins and the remaining Divines still under his thumb, he vows to reclaim his missing prize, no matter the cost.
Surrounded by the only family she knows, Evainne once again finds herself entangled in a web of legends and treachery, revealing new gifts and ancient hatreds. As dark forces threaten to tear her world apart, she must risk it all or lose any chance for the future.
5 out of 5 (exceptional)
A DIVINE'S RETRIBUTION is the third book in the Rise of the Stria series and I am really, REALLY, hoping this isn't the end. I'm just not ready to say goodbye to these characters yet!
This is an amazing addition to the series, continuing where Divine Challenge left off, so you really need to read these in order. Evainne is determined to return to Kahlym, and knows exactly who to turn to. She proceeds to do so in her own indomitable way, taking no prisoners. I loved their reunion, simply because I could see both sides!
Non-stop action once again but with the feeling of closure (Nooooo!). Evainne and Kahlym have their bumpy moments, then then they make up by bumping in the sheets. So many brilliant characters in here. I mean it when I say I'm not ready! Brel, Xander, Dhaerin, R'uan, Falka. I need to know more!
If this was the end then it was a brilliant way to go. I was hooked from the beginning to the very end, and am still hooked - in case you hadn't noticed. I loved this story and can't do anything but highly recommend it. Fair warning though, it is addictive!

Tessa McFionn is a very native Californian and has called Southern California home for most of her life, growing up in San Diego and attending college in Northern California and Orange County, only to return to San Diego to work as a teacher. Insatiably curious and imaginative, she loves to learn and discover, making her wicked knowledge of trivial facts an unwelcomed guest at many Trivial Pursuit boards. When not writing, she can be found at the movies or at Disneyland with her husband, as well as family, friends or anyone who wants to play at the Happiest Place on Earth. She also finds her artistic soul fed through her passions for theatre, dance and music. A proud parent of far too many high school seniors and two still living house plants, she also enjoys hockey, reading and playing Words With Friends to keep her vocabulary sharp. She is currently the treasurer of the San Diego chapter of Romance Writers of America and loves spending time working with such amazingly intelligent and creative writers.
