How far will she go to protect the sexiest guy in tech?

When ex-marine Georgia Bennett left the military for high-end private security, it was supposed to soften her snarky attitude. Instead, her short fuse just earned her a punishment of an assignment: protect smart-ass tech genius and Department of Defense contractor Parker Livingston. It should have been easy—only no one warned Georgia that Parker was one seriously drop-dead-gorgeous geek.

The last thing Parker needs is a bodyguard, especially not one with killer curves and a sassy mouth who tempts him to do something incredibly stupid. He’s too busy investigating whoever is turning his technology against him and threatening his team of covert operatives. But when an assassin sends Georgia and Parker running for their lives, it might just be the explosive sexual chemistry and the trust that’s building between them that saves their necks. Because the only thing more dangerous than the combination of Parker’s intellect and Georgia’s aim is their steadfast desire to protect each other, no matter the cost.

5 out of 5 (exceptional)

Something must have pulled at me, when I came across this book a full month before publication, I can't figure out what, but hey? Who cares!

Cos let me tell ya! I LOVED this book!!

I do so enjoy books that, for one reason or another, surprise me. I can't pinpoint exactly WHY I was surprised by this FIRST TIME AUTHOR book, but I really was! It was quite plainly, brilliant!

Georgia is, basically, hanging on to her job by the skin of her teeth, and her boss, Ethan, friendship with her dead brother. But there are only so many social events one can stomach! Parker, equally, is being punished by Ethan for not putting up with his security detail and for hacking into another government database. Then Parker's apartment is attacked and Georgia and Parker find themselves on the run for their lives. But not only their lives, the lives of almost every single military person sent on a covert ops. Someone is using Parker's program for vast personal gain.

Georgia and Parker have an instant and powerful attraction, right from the start, and to be fair, it isn't long before they act on that attraction. Its hot and heavy very early on and it continues all the way through the book. I loved the build up, the fight these to have for each other, against each other too. It's a very long time before either of them will admit how they feel. And I loved that, even though she felt how she did about Parker, she walked away to save him leaving her further down the line. But equally, loved that she overcame that fear!

Parker is a geek, he makes no bones about it, but he has special forces training, he just doesn't like to use that training. But here he HAS to, to keep himself, and more importantly, Georgia, alive. The overwhelming guilt he feels for the use of HIS program comes across amazingly well, I felt for Parker, cried for him too.

Georgia and Parker aside, some of the more technical issue of Parker's program went a little over my head, but I managed to pick the gist of it up. Someone was using Parker's program that was designed to risk asses covert/black ops for personal gain, and one of those ops lead to Georgia's brother, Will's death. And THAT is still not fully resolved. I think this might be the ongoing story line through however many books are going to be in this series.

It's extremely well written, from both Parker and Georgia's point of view, in the third person. I spotted not a single editing or spelling mistake. I was fully engaged through the whole book, which moves fast in some places, and then slows down so you can catch your breath before rushing off again!

I am, for a first book, blown away. Totally.

5 full and shiny stars!

Elizabeth Dyer is a recovering attorney turned romance writer. She likes her heroines smart and snarky, and her heroes strong and sexy. A recent coffee devotee, Elizabeth spends the majority of her time tucked into a corner table at Starbucks or pinned beneath her (overly affectionate) bull mastiff. When she isn’t working or wrestling the dog, you can usually find her writing the types of sexy, suspenseful books she most loves to read.

A born-and-bred Texan, Elizabeth resides in Dallas, where she indulges in Netflix marathons, Instagramming her dog, cursing through spin class and brunch. Definitely brunch. So. Much. Brunch. Adorably awkward, Elizabeth hates the phone as much as she loves all the social-media things and hearing from her readers.
