When filmmaker Tawny Michaels is asked to make a documentary about recently re-formed band Greycomet, she already knows who she’ll have to face – her ex-boyfriend Marsh Kilmer, lead singer of the band. In the ten years they’ve been apart Tawny has been happy with nothing but flings, choosing to avoid relationships, but Marsh’s only regret is losing her – and he’s determined to win her back, no matter what.

Knowing the production company is in the financial hole and finding herself still attracted to Marsh, Tawny decides to go along for the ride, but their passionate reunion hits trouble when the documentary attracts a stalker who has been relentlessly chasing the band. Tawny finds herself hiding out with Marsh, fighting to keep her business afloat while keeping herself safe – but soon realises her safety is the last thing on her mind. Can she forgive Marsh the past and trust him with her heart?

“Ready, Dani?” Tawny asked, just as a reminder to Lola that she was the one in charge, thank you very much. “Keep the camera on Marsh for now.”

“Ready to go.” Dani held a hand up alongside the camera, three fingers aloft.

“Three, two, one.”

“So what made you decide you do this documentary?” Lola asked. The tone of her voice was a little off, almost excited, and Tawny eyed her suspiciously.

Marsh tilted his head, shrugging. “The band and I are entering a new phase of working. We’re ready to look back over our past as well as turn towards the future.”

“Look back over the past…” Lola paused, although to Tawny it didn’t seem as though she needed to think about her next question. “Do you have any regrets from your past?”

Marsh glanced across at Tawny. “Many things happened in the course of my career that I’m proud of. But I also lost a lot of people along the way. And some of them I will always regret losing.”

A stone seemed to settle in Tawny’s stomach.

“You’ve had a varied career,” Lola commented coolly. “And now you’re releasing a greatest hits album. Would you say that and the documentary are intended to rejuvenate a failing career?”

What?

Tawny’s gaze snapped towards Lola at the same time as Marsh’s did, but Marsh spoke first.

“This interview is over.”

And, holding up one hand towards the camera, he stalked out of the room, brushing past Tawny on his way.

Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

I'm kinda on the fence about this one, and I really cannot pinpoint why, so this review will be short and I'm sorry for that.

Only Tawny gets a say. 99.9% of the time, I will say I wanted to hear from everyone, and I stand by that here. I didn't much like Tawny to be honest!

What I DID like, was being kept on my toes. You don't get the full story as to what happened between Tawny and Marsh, all those years ago, in one fell swoop. Oh no. You get a hint and a clue, and a randomly placed thought that makes you put the pieces together in totally the wrong way and then when we DO get the full story, you go, like DUH! Of COURSE that's what happened! The clues are all there, and I loved being shown that I really did NOT put the pieces together in the right order.

I liked the band guys, and they seem like they all have a great story to tell.

It's only a short book, less than 100 pages, but because I didn't much like Tawny, it took me far longer than it should to read.

There is on-page stalking and talk of past drug abuse. It's really quite necessary to the story, cos you need to know what happened to everyone, and how they came out the other side, or not, in some cases. Please be mindful of your triggers.

First I've read of this author. I'd like to read something else, not this series, at some point. This one just didn't float my boat.

3 good, but not for me, stars

Well, it sounds like Tawny and Marsh have some unresolved feelings to work through! It'll be interesting to see how their past relationship affects their present interactions while making the documentary. I'm curious to watch and find out.
