@Archaeolibrary, @debbiereadsbook, @JPSayle69,
Can an app be what Sam needs to heal his broken heart and overcome his fears after having his lower leg amputated?
After being medically discharged from the army, Sam Villard applies for a job as bar manager at the Flamingo Bar. His hopes of starting a new life flourish when he downloads The App and he meets Jake Alexander, a Dom.
What Sam was not expecting was to find the one man he’d offered his heart to, only to be rejected, living under Jake’s roof, Bailey Renfrew. Is Jake the answer to healing past hurts, or will old wounds work to destroy Sam’s burgeoning hope?
The App: Puppy Play is an MMM gay romance with a young Dom who knows what he wants: Sam and Bailey. This is the third book in The App Series and can be read as a stand-alone. The conclusion to Sam, Bailey, and Jake’s story can be found in 3 is the Magic Number (book 3) The Flamingo Bar Series.
5 out of 5 (exceptional)
Independent Reviewer for Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!
This is 3 in the App series, but it's not necessary to have read books 1 and 2, I haven't. The characters in those books pop up here, but I didn't feel I was missing anything but not reading them. I will, at some point, go back and read them, I was interested in their tales, but it didn't spoil this book for me by not having read them already.
And all I can say about this one is: CLIFF HANGER!! A massive cliff hanger for this book, so please be aware! The conclusion to Jake, Bailey and Sam's story isn't out til Feb 17th! Fortunately, I have been lucky enough to get my hands on an early copy, so I'll be reading that after I've written this review.
What I particularly LOVED, (yes LOVED!) about this book, was the distinct lack of kink and any smexy times between the guys! There is some, the puppy scene that Sam and Jake enjoy but that is all, and it comes late in the book. And I honestly freaking LOVED that!
What this book is about, is setting the scene for each man to come together with the others. Sam and Jake come to the conclusion they could make this work. Bailey wants Sam but thinks he can't have him. Bailey wants Jake too, but again, thinks he can't have him. Sam wants Bailey, has done for a long LONG time, but Bailey rejected him and Sam moves on to Jake.
Jake, after some clarification from another Dom, sees the beauty of the THREE of them together. he did not see that before, but now? Now he wants them all to try to make this work.
It's the emotions that get me in this book. Sam knows he wants Bailey, LOVES Bailey, but Bailey pushed him away. What he can't quite do, though, is let Bailey go completely. Sam's reaction to Jake is deep, on a soul tingling level. Jake has also lusted after Bailey since he moved in, but Bailey wasn't (he thought) ready for anything else.
Each man has a voice, in the first person. Even without the smexy times, I found this a hawt read, I really did! There is, however, no ROMANCE in this book. Yes, attraction, want and need, but the ROMANCE doesn't come through, not yet. I'm hoping (and praying) that comes in the longer (260 odd pages) book that is the conclusion to this story.
This is only short, says 145 pages, but took me less than an hour. It grabbed, and did NOT let me go! So much so, I didn't pay any attention to how much I had left, and when Bailey does what he does, I launched my kindle! I was like "FFS! What!?!?!?" My kindle is ok, for now. I expect that Bailey, Sam and Jake might launch it again at some point!
For a short (ish) none smexy book, this packs a powerful punch!

Where does one start with about what I do?
I’m a writer, but I’m sure you guessed that by now if you’re reading this, hey? What you might not know is I’m a little quirky, live in my pj’s most of the time and have cake Saturdays with my sisters every week. I dedicate a little of my time to taking care of my grandbabies and on the dedicated writing days I like to write an eclectic mix of romance, suspense and paranormal fantasy. In the main I’ve written gay romance but I’m branching out under another the pen name in the future, so watch this space.
I’ve a passion for books like you would not believe and it led me down this path and now I’ve over 29 books released and heading towards releasing a whole lot more. The way my head is I never know where I’ll be headed next. I hope you’ll find a little joy in my words and follow me to see where the journey takes me and you.
If you’re interested at some point in 2021 I’ll be writing under the name JP Paton which will be F/M crime and Fantasy two of my favourite things. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled. 🙂
