I’ve always been a sucker for a guy with muscles and a handsome face. If that makes me sound shallow, maybe I am. I’ve never had a real relationship, unless you consider the guys in my Marine Corps Recon unit. I had a great relationship with those guys. Yeah, yeah, I know we’re splitting hairs. These days, long after my retirement from active duty, the only kind of relationships I really do now are with fictional characters.
I love to read, and lately, I’ve been frequenting the pages of my favorite blog, Bestreads, to escape my real-life job, one I’m not very well suited for. One reviewer on there—Nightcrawler—absolutely slays me. He always makes me laugh, steering me clear of some of the worst trash out there when I’m not trying to earn money as a bounty hunter. Maybe someday the right man will come along, and he won’t simply be a book boyfriend.
Someday.
Lately, I can’t get intrigued by any of the guys I’ve met in bars. Hookups are becoming less and less interesting for me. I’m a reader and of late, I’m also a half decent reviewer. I write exclusively for a blog called Bestreads, working under the name of Nightcrawler and I’m not ashamed to admit, I try to make them funny. In my line of work as a recovery agent for a big insurance company, I’m finding my off hours much more pleasurable.
I think about my next review and my next blog post all the time. Whenever I put up a funny two-star review, I dream of the guy who might be at home reading it, but pretty sure the kind of man who reads me, is probably living in his mother’s basement. Still, I’m a romantic at heart. Someday I might just run into him in one of my stories.
Someday.
“I’m gonna need another painkiller, Trigg.”
“Yeah, come on. Let me get you back in bed and then I’ll get you some.” We walked back into the front room, and I spotted Stanley, once again curled up in the same spot in the middle of the bed.
I laughed. I couldn’t help myself.
“What’s so funny?” He grunted as we walked.
“I just moved him out of that spot a minute ago. Hang on.” I helped him to the bed and waited until he was sitting on the edge of it before grabbing the kitten. Stanley protested but I ignored him, putting him on my chair, and then coming back to Raven.
“Let me grab that T-shirt for you.” I helped him pull it over his head. “Come on. Let’s get you comfortable and then I’ll get those meds.”
“Jesus, I feel terrible that you have to nurse me like this,” he said as I repositioned him, fluffing pillows behind him so he could lean back.
I grunted. “I’m worried if you don’t have anyone at home to take care of you,” I said, shaking a couple of pills out into my hand. “You said you weren’t married. Girlfriend?” I knew better but I couldn’t help but want to dig for more information.
“No girlfriend, Trigg,” Raven said, taking the edge of the quilt I was pulling up over him. “I’m gay, but I guess you know that.”
“How would I know that?” I asked, busying myself with opening the second pill bottle.
He reached out and caught my hand, stopping my actions. I looked up and met his dancing gaze. “By how you reacted there, in the bathroom.”
“I didn’t—”
“Come here.” He tugged on my hand, pulling me until I was leaning over him.
“Closer.”
“Raven.”
“Are you going to make me beg for it?”
“For what?”His cobalt blue eyes danced. “A kiss, you idiot.”
I smirked…a second before I leaned all the way down…and kissed him.
4 out of 5 (very good)

Miguel and raven find themselves crossing paths when Raven "steals" Miguel's bounty. Miguel is angry at him for that, but it doesn't stop him saving the man's life at another job. Raven calls to his soul.
I'm not really sure how I feel about this book, to be honest. It didn't really push my buttons but there were bits I liked.
I liked that both Raven and Miguel had a say, in the first person. Each change is clearly headed. But doesn't always come at the chapter change. Didn't bother me either way, but some might not like that, so needs mentioning.
I liked the steam level. Granted, it goes without saying I would have liked more steam but I'm not holding that against this book. I liked that the level was perfect for Miguel and Raven, given how Raven was injured early in the book!
I liked, to a point, the Nightcrawler reviews. They were funny, but I didn't read them all. Not sure why, but I skipped them after about half way through. I didn't really see what they added to the story, to be honest.
I LOVED the supporting cast. Miguel's mentor/friends were great, and add in their wider circle who came to help him with that last bounty, and my interest was well and truly piqued. I'm not sure if these guys have stories somewhere, but if they do, I wanna read them!
One last thing, I would have liked some closure on the boob heist I'm not sure if I missed what happened to the porn star and her boyfriend, or we didn't find out, but I would have liked to have known what happened to them!
A quick look on shows me I've read a couple of Logan books and they weren't doing anything for me. This one, though, I think is one of the better ones.
3.5 stars but rounded up for the blog to 4 stars.
